To prevent the recurrence of such errors, Pope Gregory XII introduced a new calendar system, or better known as the Gregorian calendar. He ordered every 400 years three times a day to eliminate extra leap year, which reduces the last day in February on a regular basis (one hundred year 2, 3 and 4).
